Grow your own tea leaves at home!

‘Austea’ is a cultivated form of Camellia sinensis. This ancient tea plant originates from the misty mountain regions of China and India, where it has been grown for centuries. Its tender young leaves can be used to make green, black and oolong teas.

A hardy evergreen shrub, it features glossy foliage and delicate white blooms. With regular pruning, it can be maintained at around 1 metre tall, making it ideal for edible gardens, low hedges or pots. It thrives in part shade to full sun with acidic, well-drained soil and consistent moisture. Protect from heavy frost and strong afternoon sun, especially while young.
