They are perfect for eating fresh or making jellies and wines. The tree is appreciated for its ornamental appeal and the rapid production of its delicious, antioxidant-rich fruits. In warm weather jaboticaba trees often crop 4 or 5 times per year. Fruit is formed directly on the trunk and branches. Red jaboticaba trees begin fruiting after only 2 years, compared to 5 years or longer for black types.
