Black Sugarcane 'Burgundy' (QLD ONLY)

Black Sugarcane 'Burgundy' (Saccharum officinarum) is a tall plant with dark purple canes reaching 2 to 3m. Beyond its striking looks, the canes are sweet and juicy, perfect for chewing or juicing.

The crisp stalks can be peeled and chewed fresh to enjoy their sugary juice, which is refreshing and very sweet. Unlike processed sugar, natural sugarcane is a healthy food, providing natural minerals. It’s easy to grow at home in warm climates, thriving in full sun. Harvest after 10–18 months once the stems are thick and firm.
