Spanish Lime Mamoncillo

The fruit of the Spanish Lime is small and round, about 2 to 4 centimetres in diameter, with a tough, green, leathery skin. Inside, the fruit reveals a juicy, translucent pulp that ranges in colour from pale yellow to orange. The flesh is sweet and tangy, with a flavour that is often compared to a combination of lime and lychee. The fruit contains a large central seed, which is not edible. The unique taste and texture of Mamoncillo make it a popular snack, often eaten fresh by popping the fruit out of its skin and sucking the pulp off the seed.
