Hyakumo Persimmon is a large, round, orange-skinned astringent variety that produces juicy, sweet fruit when fully ripe and softened. Reaching around 3 to 4 m tall with a neat, upright habit, it is well suited to cooler climates and home gardens. Unlike many persimmons, Hyakumo requires pollination with Dai Dai Maru being a recommended pollinator. Fruit is borne on new growth, so annual pruning of old wood is important for good yields. Plant in a sunny, well-drained position, keep the soil moist until established, and fertilise at planting and after new growth appears.
