Papaya Bisexual ‘Southern Red’ is a fast-growing tropical fruit tree valued for its sweet, deep-red flesh and dependable fruiting from its self-fertile, bisexual flowers. It typically grows to 2.5–3.5 metres tall with a spread of 1.2–1.8 metres, making it suitable for home gardens and small orchards. The medium to large fruits have smooth skin and rich flavour, ideal for fresh eating and juicing. Plant in full sun in well-draining soil, and water regularly while avoiding waterlogging. For best results, protect from frost and provide consistent warmth along with light feeding during the growing season.
