Garlic Chives are a hardy perennial herb with flat, grass-like leaves that have a mild garlic flavour, ideal for adding a savoury kick to a variety of dishes. They typically grow to a height of 30–40 cm and spread around 30 cm, forming attractive clumps over time. Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil, and water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist. Cut leaves as needed to promote fresh growth, and divide clumps every few years to maintain plant health. In late summer, they produce white, star-shaped flowers that are also edible and attract pollinators.
