Cherry ‘Lapins’ is a popular self-fertile cherry tree, prized for its large, dark red fruit with rich, sweet flavour. The glossy cherries are firm, juicy, and excellent for eating fresh, cooking, or preserving. Ripening in mid to late summer, ‘Lapins’ is a heavy and reliable cropper. It requires at least 400–500 hours of winter chill and, as a self-fertile variety, does not require another tree for pollination, though fruiting can be improved with nearby cherry trees. Growing to around 3–4 m, it also features attractive spring blossoms and healthy green foliage, making it both productive and ornamental.

The best areas for Lapins cherries across these states are regions with cold winters such as Orange, Young, and Batlow in New South Wales, the Yarra Valley and High Country in Victoria, and the entire Australian Capital Territory. In Queensland, successful cultivation is strictly limited to high-altitude, cold pockets of the Granite Belt (like Stanthorpe) due to the state's otherwise warm winter climate.

Supplied in a 200-250mm pot.
