Purple Wreath (Petrea volubilis)

Petrea volubilis, commonly known as Purple Wreath or Queen's Wreath, is a vigorous tropical vine admired for its cascading clusters of star-shaped purple-blue flowers that resemble wisteria. Ideal for growing over trellises, fences, or pergolas, this climber reaches a height of 3.5 to 4.5 metres and spreads 2.5 to 3 metres wide with support. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained soil, needing regular watering during the warmer months but tolerating short dry spells once established. Light pruning after flowering helps maintain its shape and encourages fresh growth. In cooler areas of Australia, it should be protected from frost or grown in large pots that can be moved to a sheltered spot during winter. Supplied in a 140mm pot.
